St. Joseph High School student Dane Schmidt returns from Skills Canada with gold

We are so proud to celebrate St. Joseph High School's Dane Schmidt, who brought home GOLD in the Welding-Secondary competition at the Skills Canada National Competition! Dane also secured the RBC Best in Region Award and the generous Terry Cooke Legacy of Skilled Excellence scholarship ($5000/year!).

This remarkable win highlights the success of our unique single-enrolled dual-credit welding program at RDCRS. As Career Pathways Coordinator Tracey Millar notes, "The fact that we have one and it’s been so well supported is a noteworthy achievement." It's a testament to Dane's dedication and the incredible mentorship from teachers like Mike Bownes.

A huge shoutout to Lasermann Cuts for their sponsorship and our continued partnership with Red Deer Polytechnic and instructor Lee Yasinski. Investing in trades education creates bright futures!
