Welcome to Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools!

Our new 3-year faith theme invites us to encounter, nurture, and serve.

At our Division Opening Celebration, we encountered Jesus in the Mass, and there will be many more such opportunities throughout the school year to come together in your school communities and celebrate Mass. But these formal occasions to encounter Christ will be greatly outnumbered by the many daily interactions which happen each and every day in our schools, on our buses, and in all our facilities, as you engage with students and each other as staff. We will have the opportunity to be nurtured by Christ, and to live our faith through service to others.

The Board of Trustees will walk alongside you on your journey, playing our role by setting the strategic direction for our Division, engaging with stakeholders, and advocating to government.

In terms of a strategic direction, the Board is undertaking work to develop a new strategic plan. We will be working to flesh out our draft priorities, which are centered around inspiration, innovation, inclusivity, and community. We’ll share more about that work as it progresses.

We engage with stakeholders in different ways throughout the year. For example, over the past year, we’ve paid particular attention to the families which will be attending St. Lorenzo Ruiz School, scheduled to open next September. We engaged in an extensive boundary development process with several online and in-person town hall meetings, resulting in a solid plan for school boundaries in the City of Red Deer, designed to work for our community now and also respond to future growth. We look forward to future opportunities to engage our communities.

In terms of advocacy to government, we expect that work to be front and centre this year. First, there will be a new Premier in October when the governing UCP select a new leader. The Alberta election, scheduled for spring, will bring numerous opportunities to engage with candidates and advocate to all parties for the needs of our school division, and more broadly for Catholic education in Alberta.

The Board of Trustees looks forward to engaging in this work over the next year. We believe strongly in Catholic education and in you, our amazing staff. We witness the care and love you demonstrate every day, to our students and to each other, and we know that it’s through your tireless efforts that we achieve such astounding results in our school division. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, a sincere thank you for all you do. Have a wonderful school year and God bless.
