Did You Know? Shelter in Place

Today we're looking at another important Hour Zero safety protocol: Shelter in Place.
What it means: A "Shelter in Place" is initiated when there is an environmental or external hazard outside the school. This could be severe weather (like a tornado), a hazardous materials spill in the area, or a similar event. Students and staff will remain inside the building, away from windows and doors, and the exterior ventilation system will be shut down to prevent outside air from entering.
What it doesn't mean: This protocol is not related to a human threat. It is a protective action against an environmental risk. All students and staff will be safe and accounted for inside the building.
How you can help: In a Shelter in Place scenario, the best thing you can do is stay put. We will provide updates via our communication channels as soon as it is safe to do so. Our first priority is always the safety of your children.
