Did You Know? Lock Down

Today we're covering the most serious of our Hour Zero safety protocols: "Lock-down."
What it means: A "Lock-down" protocol is used when there is an immediate threat inside the school or on school grounds. This is a very serious situation. Students and staff will secure their specific classroom or area, moving out of sight, and staying quiet until first responders arrive and clear the area.
What it doesn't mean: While this is a critical situation, it does not mean there is no plan. Our staff and students are trained to follow specific procedures that have been developed with the help of local law enforcement. It is a structured and organized response to a threat.
How you can help: This is the most important message. If you receive a notification that our school is in a "Lock-down," do not call or text your child. Phones will be silenced. Do not come to the school. Emergency responders need a clear path to the building, and having parents on site can create confusion and impede their efforts. We will provide a safe reunification location and procedure for you when the Lock-down is over.
