Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

Today we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord, Jesus Christ. After His resurrection, Jesus' friends saw Him for another 40 days. Then Jesus returned to His Father by ascending into heaven.

The bible explains that a cloud took Jesus away and hid Him from the sight of his disciples. The ascension of Christ marks the end of Jesus' special appearances - but we know He has not disappeared forever.
