We are pleased to announce the launch of Discovery School, which is a nature and inquiry-based program for children registered and attending our Pre-Kindergarten program in Red Deer.
Discovery School provides the opportunity for children to engage in meaningful inquiry and play. Research shows that authentic learning experiences translate into deeper critical-thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and a higher level of thinking.
Pre-Kindergarten classrooms will rotate their attendance at Discovery School with children from Father Henri Voisin School participating beginning on Tuesday, January 23. A Parent Meeting Night will be held each Monday night for parents of children attending Discovery School the following Tuesday.
The first Parent Meeting Night is for parents of Pre-Kindergarten students at Father Henri Voisin School on Monday, January 22 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at River Bend Golf Club (3800 River Bend Drive, Red Deer), where Discovery School is based. Media are invited to talk to parents and see the inquiry-focused classroom spaces after the meeting is over.
“Discovery School empowers children to discover, play, engage, and embrace their natural curiosities about the world that surrounds them. Through this holistic experience, children make meaningful connections about authentic learning which allows them to comprehend their world and apply their knowledge in bountiful ways,” says Suzy Potts, Coordinator of Early Learning.
