Please join us in congratulating the following people on their appointments for the 2019-2020 school year. New positions will begin in August 2019.
Andrea Gringhuis, Vice Principal, St. Patrick’s Community School
Andrea is currently in her fifteenth year with RDCRS at Ecole Mother Teresa School as a teacher and currently vice principal. Andrea graduated from the University of Calgary with Distinction in the Bachelor of Education Program with a major in Secondary English. She has completed her Masters of Education in Educational Studies with a focus on leadership and school improvement from the University of Alberta. Andrea’s leadership roles have included: Learning Coach, LIFT Literacy Lead, Middle School Report Card Committee, Assessment Administration Lead Team, Edsby Live Reporting Team, and school-based mentorship program.
Andrea has been a member of and raised her family in Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Sylvan Lake. She previously coordinated the Children's Liturgy Program and is currently an active member as a Proclaimer and Eucharistic Minister.
Michelle Khatib, Vice Principal, Ecole Mother Teresa School
Michelle graduated from the University of Alberta and received a Master of Educational Technology/Leadership from the University of Calgary. Michelle also completed the certificate in theological studies from Newman Theological College. She has held vice principalship roles at St. Patrick’s, St. Teresa’s and most recently at St. Gabriel’s Learning Centre. Michelle has also been a Red Deer College and City University instructor and worked within Chinook’s Edge as Director of Educational Technology. Michelle has worked in-team to bring the Community of Inquiry (COI) Model to St. Gabe’s and provincially as an exemplar for online schools.
Michelle and her family are members of Sacred Heart Church where she serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Michelle was recently selected as the 2019 Catholic Woman’s Leadership Foundation Program candidate.
Adam Sia, Vice Principal, St. Gabriel’s Learning Centre
Adam graduated from the University of Alberta in 2003 with a focus on middle years education and obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership from City University in 2016. Adam also completed the certificate in theological studies from Newman Theological College. Adam began his teaching career with RDCRS in 2004 and has been involved as a teacher within both urban and rural school communities including St. Marguerite’s, St. Thomas, and Ecole Mother Teresa School. His administrative career began in 2014 as assistant principal at St. Dominic, St. Marguerite and vice principal at St. Patrick Community School.
Adam has a passion for technology, and sharing this passion has assisted every staff he has worked with in better understanding its importance within RDCRS’ inclusive school communities. In team, Adam has been instrumental in leading the elementary Live Reporting project.
Adam and his young family are members of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Sylvan Lake.
Jessica Maloughney, Division Humanities Lead Teacher.
Jessica began teaching in Red Deer Catholic in 2011 after graduating with distinction from the University of Alberta with a minor in English as a Second Language. She then received a Masters of Education in Reading and Literacy from City University. Jessica has taught in the school communities of St. Teresa, Ecole Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Patrick, and Father Voisin. She also has teaching experience in London as well as within the Muskoka Language International Japanese Program. Jessica’s classroom is learner-centred and celebrates diversity within each child’s culture as well as diversity within each child’s abilities. She has been a pivotal team member in the implementation of Father Voisin’s Learning Sprints approach and active on both school and Division PD committees.
Jessica is a member of Sacred Heart Church. She is involved in the Music Ministry, proclaiming and Children’s Liturgy.
Cindy Armstrong, Division Finance Manager
Cindy received a Business Administration diploma from Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She holds a Certified General Accounting designation and is a certified professional Co-Active Coach.
Cindy brings a variety of experiences to RDCRS. She has worked in both for profit and not for profit organizations throughout her career and has experience with boards, directors, councils, and owners in various size organizations. Her position will commence this summer.
